After a bit of research over the weekend, a design was drawn up on the Monday, this was approved on Tuesday on Wednesday the hats were ordered from a local embroidery firm and the logo digitised. The hats were stitched on the Thursday, delivered on the Friday, and on the Saturday the owner was so delighted he gave one to everybody who was on board that day and ordered a new batch to be made up! We have since been asked to have a ‘house pennant’ made up to fly at the bows of the yacht when the owner is on board.

At EuropeAxess we have an international team of designers & developers that work together on most of our websites, ensuring the quickest possible turn around with a wide range of expertise and creative experience.

The creative process begins with a need. Clients from a broad spectrum of industries come to us, from new businesses to well established empires. Some needing us to create & implement an entire brand identity that runs smoothly from the real world of local or international publishing and advertising, to the online world wide web.
We do brand redesigns, updates & expansions or just simple cases of adding a web portal to your business to boost exposure, client base and therefore success.

Whatever you need, we can help.

Website Source Code

Once we have analysed your need, we can present the range of products that will help fulfil your requirements, these products can be tailored to fit your budget and we can even integrate into the foundations of your website, the utilities that you will need when you want to take your website to the next level.

When you have chosen your package, whether it be a single page with your contact details and business services summary, a Word-press blog to keep clients or followers up to date on current events and news, a basic website with a page for each service, contact page and history or a full scale online empire with multiple sites and advanced interactive services, the first step for us is to design the site map. This is akin to an architect drawing up the blueprints for a building. The site map will be built with many aspects in mind, making sure that the user can get to the information they are looking for or the products or services that you offer, within the least amount of time and without having to click through copious amounts of links or plough through pages of unrelated data. We know that with the internet being such a fast moving medium, people will not sit for very long searching in one site when they have hundreds of others to choose from.

Generic Site Map

On the skeleton of the site map we can begin to design the look. This is usually taken from your corporate style. There are many aspects to take into account at this stage, for example, if you have a colourful logo it is often best to keep the site very clean with a limited colour pallet to make sure your logo stands out and to avoid overwhelming the viewer. The layout of the pages will be designed with the quantity of information in mind, making sure that everything that is important is right there when the page opens and scrolling is only required once the consumer is ready for detail.

Have a look through our portfolio of web sites and you will see some examples of what we can do. Things like PHP Word-press websites, web applications and API programming like webcams and Webcam status Twitter feeds. We can also create on-line booking & purchasing facilities and… well to be honest the possibilities are as endless as the web itself!

Images must be kept good enough quality to view but small enough to load quickly

When asked about the future and what we can do for you the client, our web developer gave a good example of how much is involved in keeping up with the fast changing face of web based communication and exposure. Here is what he had to say:-

“Web development typically uses data from an Enterprise database as well as server and client side scripting to build interactive web applications.

The line between a desktop application on your Mac or PC and a web application running in your browser is becoming increasingly blurred. With technologies like drag-and-drop appearing on web sites, and permanently connected applications like Skype and twitter clients on the desktop, there are fewer differences between the two.

Now Adobe Flex allows developers to write widget applications that can be torn-off the web pages and run off-line. A step further, Google is working on Chrome OS, a web browser that will run natively on Netbook PCs, meaning you won’t need Windows or a desktop cluttering up these lightweight laptops.

Cloud computing will soon be a reality for those who have constant Internet connections. The idea is that all your data (emails, instant messages, photos, voice recordings, documents, etc.) are stored somewhere in the Internet cloud, and you connect to that cloud wherever you are, to interact with and share your information.

So from putting your product catalogue on the web, to building interactive video games around your brand or leveraging social media to publish your marketing material, it’s all possible within the remit of web development.”

So, from the smallest presence to the limitless reaches of your imagination, don’t sweat the details, let Europeaxess take you there.

In July 2009 EuropeAxess Media said goodbye to the cosy Watergardens office that had been Home for so long.
Progress demands change, and when a carpeted, air-conditioned office suite became available in Leon House, we seized the opportunity to expand into an even more comfortable location, central, and above all, quiet!
One member of the moving party, on taking in the vista of green trees and the upper Rock from the big windows, and hearing the soft birdsong in the background, dubbed it ‘Designer Heaven’.
During our first weeks in residence at the new location we have worked on completing several large projects which had been ongoing during the summer. La Garote do Ipanema is already up and running, and we can say that the owners are delighted with the success of the new venture to date. Other projects will be announced soon… watch this space.

Detail of one of the plans showing the date an early amendment: 23rd February 1891

When Richard Desoiza of the Let’s Go Rock and Fortress Project was given a treasure trove of eleven 19th Century Royal Engineer Plans for Willis’s Powder Battery, he was quick to appreciate their value as display material in the new venue.
He called Angela and asked her to have them scanned and mounted on boards as we had done with previous display materials in the World War II Tunnels. After giving her a tour of the huge Powder Battery, and explaining the clever 19th Century methods of fire prevention he entrusted her with the valuable documents then and there.

Detail of part of a plan showing the amendments on with brown paper tapes

The hand drawn documents were in a delicate condition, their large size, 1 meter by 70cm, and the many additions that had been pasted onto them over the years meant they needed very careful handling. Angela was not happy with the idea of putting them through a rotary scanner, although there were one or two of these available on the Rock. Richard had already taken digital photographs of the plans but even with a good camera, the definition was not suitable for reproduction and display. After extensive research it was discovered that the Imperial War Museum in London had the facilities available for the job.
Angela immediately booked the flights combining this trip to the Museum with visits to her cousin in London and friends near Gatwick, keeping the costs of travel and accommodation to a minimum and splitting these with the client. Effectively subsidising the valuable heritage work Richard carries out with very little, if any state funding.

One of the plans before scanning

The plans were packed very carefully for their flight to London, and never left her sight at any time. Indeed, part of the agreement with the Imperial War Museum was that she should stay on the premises at all times while the plans were being scanned to comply with their insurance policies.
Richard Bayford, the manager of the Photo Unit was very helpful in scheduling time in their busy programme to facilitate this unusual request. A whole day was set aside and detailed instructions provided on how to find the Photo Unit in the sprawling War Museum buildings.

Damon Cleary, the technician digitising the plans.

After delivering the documents to technician Damon Cleary, and inspecting the equipment, which comprised of a Betterlight Super 8K scan back fitted to a DeVere 10×8 enlarger chassis over a flat bed where the documents were fixed under glass and extremely high powered lights. Museum photographer Greg Smith took the ‘in progress’ shots featured on this page.

Richard Brayford and Angela in attendance during the procedure

The process did indeed take the whole day. But Angela was never bored, Richard Bayford gave her a tour of the Photo Unit, showing off many wonderful old Wartime Posters, all of which had been photographed for posterity and either stored or put on display. She also learned that a very high number of exhibits in the Museum are replicas constructed in-house, as the original articles are too precious to be submitted to the glare of the lights in the display areas.

After an excellent lunch in the Museum’s restaurant it was arranged that Angela should have free entry into the then current, temporary exhibition on Ian Flemming featuring many of the articles used in the production of the Bond films as well as detailing the links between Flemming and MI5.
Finally, just after 5.00pm Greg handed over the DVD containing the high resolution scans. These were then brought back to Gibraltar where Angela made some fine adjustments to the images, mainly straightening the files. This in itself took quite a while due to the size of the scans.
The completed images were then printed on durable, water resistant material using high quality inks and then laminated onto 10mm pvc boards. Previous displays of this quality had fared well in the damp conditions found underground in the World War II Tunnels.
The new display boards were installed at the Powder Battery and provide a fascinating insight for visitors as to building methods from generations ago, adding value to this new Tourism initiative.
