At EuropeAxess we have an international team of designers & developers that work together on most of our websites, ensuring the quickest possible turn around with a wide range of expertise and creative experience.

The creative process begins with a need. Clients from a broad spectrum of industries come to us, from new businesses to well established empires. Some needing us to create & implement an entire brand identity that runs smoothly from the real world of local or international publishing and advertising, to the online world wide web.
We do brand redesigns, updates & expansions or just simple cases of adding a web portal to your business to boost exposure, client base and therefore success.

Whatever you need, we can help.

Website Source Code

Once we have analysed your need, we can present the range of products that will help fulfil your requirements, these products can be tailored to fit your budget and we can even integrate into the foundations of your website, the utilities that you will need when you want to take your website to the next level.

When you have chosen your package, whether it be a single page with your contact details and business services summary, a Word-press blog to keep clients or followers up to date on current events and news, a basic website with a page for each service, contact page and history or a full scale online empire with multiple sites and advanced interactive services, the first step for us is to design the site map. This is akin to an architect drawing up the blueprints for a building. The site map will be built with many aspects in mind, making sure that the user can get to the information they are looking for or the products or services that you offer, within the least amount of time and without having to click through copious amounts of links or plough through pages of unrelated data. We know that with the internet being such a fast moving medium, people will not sit for very long searching in one site when they have hundreds of others to choose from.

Generic Site Map

On the skeleton of the site map we can begin to design the look. This is usually taken from your corporate style. There are many aspects to take into account at this stage, for example, if you have a colourful logo it is often best to keep the site very clean with a limited colour pallet to make sure your logo stands out and to avoid overwhelming the viewer. The layout of the pages will be designed with the quantity of information in mind, making sure that everything that is important is right there when the page opens and scrolling is only required once the consumer is ready for detail.

Have a look through our portfolio of web sites and you will see some examples of what we can do. Things like PHP Word-press websites, web applications and API programming like webcams and Webcam status Twitter feeds. We can also create on-line booking & purchasing facilities and… well to be honest the possibilities are as endless as the web itself!

Images must be kept good enough quality to view but small enough to load quickly

When asked about the future and what we can do for you the client, our web developer gave a good example of how much is involved in keeping up with the fast changing face of web based communication and exposure. Here is what he had to say:-

“Web development typically uses data from an Enterprise database as well as server and client side scripting to build interactive web applications.

The line between a desktop application on your Mac or PC and a web application running in your browser is becoming increasingly blurred. With technologies like drag-and-drop appearing on web sites, and permanently connected applications like Skype and twitter clients on the desktop, there are fewer differences between the two.

Now Adobe Flex allows developers to write widget applications that can be torn-off the web pages and run off-line. A step further, Google is working on Chrome OS, a web browser that will run natively on Netbook PCs, meaning you won’t need Windows or a desktop cluttering up these lightweight laptops.

Cloud computing will soon be a reality for those who have constant Internet connections. The idea is that all your data (emails, instant messages, photos, voice recordings, documents, etc.) are stored somewhere in the Internet cloud, and you connect to that cloud wherever you are, to interact with and share your information.

So from putting your product catalogue on the web, to building interactive video games around your brand or leveraging social media to publish your marketing material, it’s all possible within the remit of web development.”

So, from the smallest presence to the limitless reaches of your imagination, don’t sweat the details, let Europeaxess take you there.

We offer an extensive range of printing services thanks to over 20 years experience of print providers, we now work with a number of trusted specialist printers both locally and internationally.

For larger quantities of premium quality printing we recommend Lithographic Printing known as ‘Litho’. Litho is a method using a metal plate with a completely smooth surface on which oil is applied to divide the smooth surface into hydrophobic regions which accept the ink, and hydrophilic regions which reject it. The inked image is transferred from the plate to a rubber blanket and then to the paper, card or other printing surface (samples of printable surfaces can be provided on request). The word Lithography is from Greek ‘lithos’ (stone) and ‘grapho’ (to write). It was invented in 1796 originally using a limestone.

CMYK process colors spectrophotometrically monitored

If we are designing your artwork for you then you can rest assured that it will have been created within the strict guidelines required to assure that the printed product looks as much like your proof as is realistically possible. Factors such as colour can be points of contention, if your chosen colours are very specific e.g. corporate colours, then we will provide the printer with your Pantone (a standardised colour reproduction system) or CMYK colour code for them to match to. C.M.Y.& K. are the initials of the 4 colours used in Process colour print jobs, cyan, magenta, yellow and black.

RGB Screen Colour Spectrum

Watch out for RGB, it is never used in printing but be careful because it is used a lot for internet and you may find one or two of your images, if sourced elsewhere, could have been saved in RGB and will cause major problems if they end up going to print. The RGB colour model relates to red, green and blue lights which are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad range of colours to be displayed on screen.

If you are availing yourself of our print buying service and supplying us with the artwork, before it is Lithographically Printed, for example on one of the world renowned Heidelberg Printing Presses, we will submit it to a thorough pre-press procedure. This is the process whereby we check all the minutia, the fine details and hidden aspects of the artwork to iron out any problems. If work is not professionally prepared and adequately checked in this way at the pre-press stage, problems can cause hundreds, thousands or tens of thousand of pounds/euros worth of work to be ruined. Simple little mistakes like the wrong page size can cause your product to have design elements chopped off, look off-centre or end up with undesired white spaces at the edges. To make sure this doesn’t happen we will make sure your artwork is the correct size, has the appropriate cut marks, bleed and quiet zone around the edges as well as making sure all creases, folds or perforations will lie where you need them.

World renowned Heidelberg Press

With any job that has specific finishing requirements, for example a folder, we will create a mock up to make sure that the artwork will give you the correct size and shape that you require. Things such as glue tabs, peep hole’s, pockets and disk holders need to be millimetre perfect or the result could be off centre or overlapped.

The text in your artwork is composed of Fonts, they need careful selection at the design stage and just as careful handling at the pre-press stage. Where this is not done professionally, more often than not fonts are missing, clashing or corrupt even though they looked perfect on the proof! During the pre-press process, unless the artwork supplied has been ‘flattened’, all fonts will be checked and converted to outlines to make sure that there is no chance of it defaulting and causing unsightly Courier fonts to pop in uninvited!

When printing 1 poster or 10,000 business cards all these and many more factors are vital, we will help you at any stage or from start to finish to make sure your ideas evolve into the professional result that takes you head and shoulders above the rest.

Barbara Staunton of the Silver Shop had already asked us to create the look for one shop on Main Street in 2006. She later told is the new signage had paid for itself in three months. Barbara was so happy with the result, we were called in again when she moved to an even more central location, opposite Marks & Spencers.

The traditional arched windows pose a problem for conventional canopy manufacturing methods, and do not fit in the standard production templates. We drew up our own templates and commissioned the frame as a bespoke item. We then covered this with durable black canvas re-creating the chic, boutique look that has worked so well for the Silver Shop in the past.
The highly polished stainless steel lettering featured on the wall signs was also a repeat order, this material has stood the test of time on the old shop, with the lettering’s mirror finish always looking like new.
These works were carried out in July/August 2009, anyone that works in Gibraltar or the Costa will know that this is a nightmare time to have any works undertaken. The response when ordering supplies from across the border in August is often ‘Not this month!’
We felt we earned our Superhero’s badge when we completed the works on the 22nd August, and The Silver Shop were able to open for business catching the tail end of the high season. Barbara said ‘You are the only ones that did what they said they would do in the time they said they would do it!’
With this new shop, we have also provided a maintenance contract, cleaning the whole façade monthly, thanks to the good offices of our associated company: Ginge Sargent Gardiennage.

Ipanema shortly after opening

A completely new concept for Gibraltar was to be rolled out in a high profile location. Building on the success of the Gaucho’s Argentinian venue, and taking reference from South American style catering, André wanted a look that would transport his diners to another continent. Angela was able to draw on he experiences having visited Rio and the surrounding Rain Forest the previous year. In consultation with André and his son René, the exotic beaches of Rio were selected from a range of South American venues for the name of the restaurant.

The site of the new restaurant in the high profile Ocean Village complex

The famous Ipanema bay was the preferred choice, using the all time favourite song, ‘La Garota de Ipanema’ or ‘The Girl from Ipanema’ which marked the beginning of Bossa Nova music. A virtual representation of the restaurant was created after taking careful measurements and a series of photographs. This was then clad in themed graphics, and was presented on the laptop as a series of .pdf files showing the overall effect and some details of how the lintels and pillars would appear. We could also have run a 3D virtual tour, but it was not felt to be necessary for this project. The design concept was approved by André and his team and included panoramic murals. These images may be installed at a later date but initially the exotic atmosphere was portrayed by relying solely on the peripheral graphics that had been planned for the ceiling, windows, pillars and lintels.

The glass ceiling was entirely covered with one image of the Rain Forest canopy.

Forest Canopy going up

The representatives of the manufacturers of the materials we used, who were consulted during the planing process, had never heard of this being done before. This ground breaking and possibly unique, naturally illuminated ceiling graphics display, so immediately changed the character of the dining area, that it seemed to have a ‘Sistine Chapel’ effect on visitors, who would walk in and crane their heads back to gaze at the Rain Forest canopy.

Temperate Rain Forest vista

Next the South wall of the building, a row of glass doors that open out onto the marina, was transformed into a Temperate Rain Forest vista. Using one large image for each section of 5 doors, but manipulating the graphics so the repetition was only apparent after studying the picture for a while, but still leaving enough of the original image so viewers might be tempted to try to match them up.

The Pillars and beams had been left with a problematic substrate by the previous occupants, our brief was to completely cover them. We chose photography of stone work from Mayan and Inca sources to enhance and underscore the exotic South American character of the venue.

Pillars & Beams

The images were duplicated and mirrored until long strips were created to run the length of each panel required, then creeping plants were super-imposed on the stonework. After these panels were installed the main roof beam and pillars were further decorated with silk leaves so the image of trailing greenery flowed seamlessly from the 2-D medium to the 3-D environment. Parts of the pillar supports were jacketed in organic material, breaking the symmetry and again the silk plants were allowed to ‘grow’ through them and around them.

Pillar Details

Finally three meter lengths of bamboo were bound into the design with hemp like rope to further disguise the new build structure and create a more naturalistic venue. The day after all this was completed the André shipped in huge live bamboo and other plants which were strategically placed and really set off the whole design concept.

In publishing the Gibraltar Guidebook with a full colour map showing the whole of the Rock on one side and a large scale plan of the shopping centre on the reverse we achieved our ambitions.
The full colour map was painstakingly prepared with the greatest attention to detail, but was well worth the effort proving to be a popular item with several sales outlets in Gibraltar.

When Mandy Gaggero saw the innovative vehicle wrap that EuropeAxess had done for Richard Desoiza’s World War II Tunnels visitors bus, she invited Angela to Blands Head office in Cloister Building to discuss a revamp of the MH Blands Tour buses.

The MH Blands busses go through a regular cycle of maintainance and refurbishment as the fleet is updated or new vehicles added in. We were asked to install 6 vehicle wraps in the first year. We were asked to develop two designs to promote the Cable Car and Upper Rock experience and the Dolphin World Cruises.

Front of Bus

Mandy wanted the front of the buses to remain clear, but with strong branding. However we were able to use the client’s photography to create high resolution collages conveying the exciting atmosphere and immediacy of the Tour experience. For this we produced long panoramic scenes right along the full length of the sides of the buses. We also used the back windows printing images on one-way microporus film. Wherever possible the apes and dolphins moved out of the confines of the vehicle panels to help bring them into the realm of the audience.

One-way Microporus Film used on back

The materials and inks that were used in production were of the strongest quality to ensure a long lasting image that would stand the rigors of the Gibraltar sub-tropical weather and the Barbary Apes themselves in the Nature Reserve where the Tour Buses spend much of their working day. The Apes have been known to peel signage off vehicles if they can!

We were asked to install the same images on a further 6 busses the following year, but, on seeing the possibilities and potential of this new medium MH Blands went on to assimilate a local design company into the Group and put all further vehicle wraps through their own in-house studios.

Dolphin Advert

In July 2009 EuropeAxess Media said goodbye to the cosy Watergardens office that had been Home for so long.
Progress demands change, and when a carpeted, air-conditioned office suite became available in Leon House, we seized the opportunity to expand into an even more comfortable location, central, and above all, quiet!
One member of the moving party, on taking in the vista of green trees and the upper Rock from the big windows, and hearing the soft birdsong in the background, dubbed it ‘Designer Heaven’.
During our first weeks in residence at the new location we have worked on completing several large projects which had been ongoing during the summer. La Garote do Ipanema is already up and running, and we can say that the owners are delighted with the success of the new venture to date. Other projects will be announced soon… watch this space.

When George Olivera of Mediterranean Cleaning Services needed a Yellow Pages Ad created in a hurry, the staff at Herold Mediatel who produce the Gibraltar Telephone Directory recommended Angela Sargent.

MCS found that the were taking on an increasing number of larger corporate contracts, so the brief was to revamp their Yellow Pages advertising to reflect this success, showcase their specialist teams and equipment.
The day after we received the enquiry from Mr Olivera a recce was done down at Ocean Village. A spot decided upon for a photo shoot and a day scheduled for the team and equipment to be on site. Meanwhile the company logo was redrawn and a couple of layouts prepared.
The day after the photo shoot a draft advertisement was presented to Mr. Olivera for approval. Some small revisions were made and the final Ad was ready to send to the Yellow Pages 5 working days from the initial enquiry. On time and within the estimated budget.

The Queens Hotel were one of our very first website clients when EuropeAxess was started over 10 years ago, and the site had stood the test of time, its still one of our hardest working websites, filling the Hotel time and time again.

First Queen's Hotel Website

But for many years the website it only needed to be updated as required when the Hotel was refurbished, and adding in new facilities as the improvements were made to the rooms.

In 2008 however, it was felt it was time to give the website itself a refurbishment. A new fresh colour scheme was developed in line with the Hotel’s corporate green, and a minimalist layout for the pages on trend with today’s best Hotel websites.

New Queen's Hotel Website

Many new photographs were taken to order, all the room shots were new for instance and many of the exterior views, as the city around the Hotel had changed, particularly the Marina View, where there is now a vista of ‘The Island’ luxury villas and super yachts.

Queen's Hotel sea view photograph

We added a new page giving more information about Gibraltar. This is hopefully very useful to visitors to the site and we can see that] they do browse this page, but it was really intended as a tool to optimize the sites search engine position.
The Queen’s Hotel already had a very high page position in search engines as Rogelia is very active marketing the hotel by networking with tour operators and travel associations.
Other new pages included a Map page with detailed instructions on how to find the Hotel, by car, by Public Transport and Walking. A new secure section was added where Reservation Requests are managed.
Almost all of the Hotel’s bookings now come via the internet and only a small proportion from ‘walk-ins’ so it was vital to the reservation booking page was tailored to the systems already in place at the Hotel.
We hope that Ernest and Rogelia will enjoy the fruits of the website for another 10 years, with only the only updates being due to their continual enhancement of their guests experience at the Queens Hotel – Gibraltar’s only Budget Hotel.
